About Us

Seed and Spoke Farms is the creative collaboration of Andrea Harsell and Erick Vines. She the 'seed' and he the 'spoke'.

SEED: Representing farm fresh eggs from our flock of chickens, honey from our honeybees here on the farm, and a garden bounty of fresh produce and fresh cut flowers. Visit our online farm store for our homemade salves, lip balms, soaps, candles, and curated home goods. Produce, eggs, baked goods, gifts, honey and flowers are available for sale online and at our roadside farm stand April - October.

SPOKE: Built for thrill seekers, dirt bike enthusiasts, mountain bikers, nature lovers, and hikers. Erick hand-built a single-track flow course trail, "Ground Control 406", that winds throughout our property. In the spring and summer, it is alive with wildflowers, birds, butterflies, and the scent of pine. In the winter, if the snow gods favor us, it is used as a banked slalom snowboard course.

2022 - Our beginning. I have been a traveling troubadour for most of the past 30 years and in the spring of 2022, my truck needed a new engine and with covid supply chain issues, it was going to be a year before it would be back on the road. This meant that I would have to give up life on the road for awhile. Erick cut me out a section of the property and suggested I garden. I feel like it was God's way of forcing me to slow down, and to process the passing of my dear sister Gwendolyn who left us five years prior. I named it Butterfly Field Gardens in honor of Gwen who's spirit I feel in the many visiting butterflies to our garden.   It was my first year and I learned a lot thanks to google. That first year, we offered an egg CSA and I experimented with many types of vegetables and flowers. We had a very successful harvest and many garden miracles. SO many in fact, that we decided to turn the venture into a small family farm business and Seed + Spoke Farms was born in August of 2022.

This year, in 2023, my family and I expanded our garden space to include a squash garden, and we successfully grew sweet corn, various squashes, and pumpkins for the first time. The watermelon crop outperformed last year's. There's nothing quite like the satisfaction of enjoying a watermelon you've grown yourself! During the past winter, I was fortunate to be accepted into CFAC's (Certified Food and Agriculture Coalition) Certified Farm Start-Up Program, where I had the opportunity to learn the ropes of farming and establish valuable connections in the agricultural community.

Our roadside farm stand opened in August this year, and we were warmly embraced by our neighborhood. We're deeply grateful for all the love and support we've received, as well as the chance to meet many of our neighbors for the first time. We plan to continue offering our honor system roadside stand in the coming years. Additionally, I earned a blue ribbon for my dough bowl candles at the county fair and took third place for my banana bread. Currently, we're knee-deep in the harvest season and already making plans for next year, which will include a flower CSA. Stay tuned!

In just a few short years, we've come a long way, and it wouldn't have been possible without you, our valued customers. Thank you for being an integral part of this incredible journey alongside us. Let's keep growing together.
